The SunSun HBL-303 hang-on filter / attachment filter is ideal for small aquariums that do not provide sufficient capacity to have installed an Aaquarium filter inside.The aquarium hang-on filter can be connected for aquariums that amount to water volume of up to 40 litres. The pump capacity is 350 litres per hour. The water flow of the attachment filter can be steplessly adjusted. By this means it matches perfectly any size of the aquarium.Installation:The assembly of the aquarium hang-on filter is easy and accomplished within just a couple of minutes.The housing of the attachment filter is easily set sidewards or hung on the back part of the aquarium.It is only the aquarium pump itself that is installed inside the aquarium.Filter material:The attachment filter is fully equipped.Filter floss – Filter fleece:Filter media just like fleece, floss or sponges form an essential part of the modern aquatics.Filter floss makes that coarse dirt particles are absorbed, whereas sponges reduce the nitrate and purify the water from chemical pollutants thus offering perfect conditions for the settlement of filter bacteria.Activated carbon:Activated carbon is used in aquatics to bind urea and humic substances, pesticides and metabolic products and residues alike, thus ensuring clear water. Moreover, by using activated carbon, the ozone and chlorine content is reduced. In particular, activated carbon is well-suited for the pretreatment of tap water, in the case of turbidities due to suspended particles and for filtering ov residues after the medical treatment. During drug or algae treatment you should renounce carbon in the filter, however, after the treatment it is indispensable in order to remove all residues. Do not leave activated carbon inside the filter for a long period of time because after reaching the capacity of absorption there is the eventuality that the bound contaminants are washed out and by this means get back into the water.Of course, the aquarium attachement filter can be equipped individually, e.g., with the help of biological filter materials such as zeolite or bio-filter rings.However, this requires the correct placement of the filter materials. An interference of the filter materials with the filter’s water flow may cause an overflow of the filter.When purchasing a new aquarium filter or after a thorough cleaning there has to be another enrichment of the beneficial bacteria.For this purpose there are special cultures of bacteria that are placed into the aquarium filter thus facilitating the start.Suitable for aquarium glasses up to 12 mm.
